This move sidelines fairness, misinformation tracking, and content authentication—critical safeguards against discriminatory AI and deepfakes. The decision follows Elon Musk’s government efficiency purge, with NIST already losing employees.
When AI models control hiring, policing, and healthcare, fairness isn’t optional. Is this a necessary correction to avoid “woke” AI, or are we heading toward a dangerous AI Wild West?
