Who needs legal experts when you have ChatGPT?

Arizona State Representative Alexander Kolodin turned to ChatGPT to define “digital impersonation” for a new deepfake regulation law.

Struggling with technical jargon, Kolodin leveraged the AI’s capabilities to craft precise language, which helped the bill pass unanimously. The new law allows candidates to ask a judge to verify the authenticity of supposed deepfakes, providing a mechanism to combat AI-generated misinformation.

Kolodin believes in working smarter, using AI to draft amendments and save time. This raises a crucial question: as AI shapes legislation, how do we ensure the accuracy and reliability of these automated contributions and should we want AI to become involved in creating our laws?
