Is China's AI revolution just a matter of time, or is it another tech fantasy?

China’s AI chipmakers are rapidly advancing, aiming to close the gap with international leaders like Nvidia. Despite being hampered by US trade restrictions, companies like SenseTime are collaborating with domestic firms such as Huawei and Shanghai Biren Technology to boost their AI capabilities.

Xu Bing, co-founder of SenseTime, highlights that while Asia lacks the computational power of the US, it has the talent and data to catch up. SenseTime, which has invested heavily in R&D, aims to become profitable within two years.

With significant investments in AI infrastructure and domestic chip development, can China overcome its current computational disadvantages and emerge as a leader in AI technology?
