Generative AI: Supercharging Knowledge or Sabotaging Wisdom?
Generative AI promises infinite knowledge, but it might just make us the smartest fools in history.
We’ve used technology, from Gutenberg’s printing press to today’s internet, to spread knowledge wider and faster. Generative AI pushes this further, instantly summarizing mountains of information at our command.
Yet, easy access doesn’t always mean deeper thinking. We’re already seeing signs of digital amnesia; storing less in our brains because tech remembers for us.
What worries me most:
- AI can accidentally give wrong answers (“hallucinations”).
- Easy answers might hurt our critical thinking.
- We might lose diversity, replacing varied views with uniform AI-driven responses.
As someone who believes thriving means balancing technology with deep thinking, I’m curious: Are we risking our wisdom by outsourcing knowledge to AI?
