Google’s AI Babysitter: Innovation or Exploitation?

Google wants your 8-year-old chatting with its AI, because monetizing grown-ups wasn’t enough.

Google is opening up Gemini for children under 13, raising serious questions about privacy and safety. Gemini, accessed via Google’s Family Link, lets kids ask questions and get homework help.

The company promises safeguards, yet admits the AI “makes mistakes” and kids might see unwanted content. UNICEF warns chatbots confuse children by seeming human and spreading misinformation.

Tech giants have historically mishandled kids’ data privacy, facing hefty fines. Will Google do better or just follow profits? Real innovation means responsibility. Is targeting kids with AI really ethical progress, or just profit-driven exploitation?
