Meta Llama 3 Unveiled: A Leap or Just a Step in AI's Evolution?

Meta just launched Meta Llama 3, touting it as the most advanced openly available large language model yet, aiming to reshape how developers, researchers, and businesses utilize AI.

This new model, accessible on major platforms like AWS and Google Cloud, boasts up to 70 billion parameters and promises enhancements in reasoning and code generation. The objective is to soon make Llama 3 also multilingual and multimodal, have longer context, and continue to improve overall performance across core LLM capabilities such as reasoning and coding.

With tools like Llama Guard 2 and CyberSec Eval 2, Meta emphasizes responsible AI use, aiming to align Llama 3’s abilities with ethical standards. However, amidst this progress, the AI community faces a crucial question: Will Llama 3 truly enhance productivity and innovation, or could it intensify the AI divide, pushing the boundaries of AI ethics and practical utility?
