Training 300,000 on AI: Infosys’ Bold Bet on the Future
Training hundreds of thousands of employees on AI might sound like preparing for mass layoffs — but Infosys insists it's about making people more valuable.
As generative AI dominates headlines, Infosys is pushing forward by training its 340,000-strong workforce on the technology. Chief Technology Officer Rafee Tarafdar developed a three-tier training approach, categorizing employees into AI-aware, builders, and masters.
This strategic approach, facilitated by the Lex platform, ensures that staff are not just passive learners but active creators of AI solutions. Infosys has made 66 specialized courses available to employees, addressing everything from responsible AI use to deep technical mastery.
To ensure safe AI development, the company incorporates its Responsible AI framework, which emphasizes explainability, ethics, and security. With 84% of the workforce already AI-aware, Tarafdar is confident that companies investing strategically in AI, rather than following the hype, will unlock real value.
