AI: The New God or Just Another Gadget?

If you're counting on AI to be our new omniscient overlord, you might be worshipping a false idol.
The rise of AI has sparked a mix of fear, awe, and overblown expectations. While tech giants like Microsoft and Google tout AI as a transformative force, philosopher Nick Bostrom and others warn of AI's existential risks, fearing we might lose control to a superintelligent entity.
However, the real danger lies not in AIโs power, but in our misguided faith in it and the misuse of this technology today. History has shown that technology often disappoints those who see it as a shortcut to solving humanityโs deepest problems.
AI, as sophisticated as it may become, still lacks the human qualities of morality, desire, and subjective experience that guide meaningful decisions. As we continue to integrate AI into daily life, the critical question remains: Are we letting technology dictate our values, or are we using it to enhance them?
