New research using brain imaging on people undergoing brain surgery for epilepsy has shown that our minds flit between stability and chaos as we go about our daily activities. The scientists behind the study hope that by understanding the patterns of brain activity, they may one day be able to help people suffering from neurological disorders by finding the sweet spot between the two extremes.
