More and more companies are turning to a recurring revenue business model from online companies to unexpected companies such as Adobe and Audi. These new, unexpected, subscription-based business models are disruptive but when they are connected to the Internet of Things very interesting models can appear. Aria Co-founder Brendan O'Brien sat down with eCornell at Dreamforce '13 to discuss how the Internet of Things can influence recurring revenue model when more objects are embedded with sensors and gain the ability to communicate. The resulting information systems promise to create new business models, reduce costs and risks and improve business processes.
