The f(x) = e^x | Too Advanced AI

đŸ‘‹ Hi, I am Mark. I am a strategic futurist and innovation keynote speaker. I advise governments and enterprises on emerging technologies such as AI or the metaverse. My subscribers receive a free weekly newsletter on cutting-edge technology.

Good Day! This is my weekly newsletter, with a dose of insights into the future. The topic of this newsletter is the exponential times we live in, hence the title of f(x) = e^x, which is the (natural) exponential function.

Recently, I launched my new concept The Digital Speaker and you can now book me as an avatar or hologram. Also, my tech trend prediction for 2021 is out, read it here!

How to Control AI that Becomes Too Advanced?

My latest article:

Artificial Intelligence is rapidly becoming more advanced. One of the organisations working on AI is OpenAI. They have developed an AI-system, called, GPT2, that is so efficient in writing a text based on just a few lines of input, that OpenAI decided not to release the full research to the public. Out of fear of misuse of the tool. Already, GPT2 has been described as the text version of deep fakes. Should we now be scared? Not yet. Should we be cautious? Definitely. It is time to establishing global guidelines, rules and regulations on how to deal with artificial intelligence. After all, not all organisations will be as responsible as OpenAI.

Three Useful Nuggets of Information

My weekly tips from around the web to get you thinking.

1. Will deep learning require a new programming language?

Until today, Python is one of the to-go-to programming languages for artificial intelligence. However, Facebook AI Research director Yann LeCun said that maybe Python is not flexible enough when dealing with deep learning. However, developers want to use Python, so will a new programming language work? (VentureBeat)

2. Elite investors use AI to help them.

Major hedge funds, major banks and private equity firms are increasingly relying on artificial intelligence to help them with their investment decisions, ranging from portfolio recommendations to developing complex algorithms to test sophisticated investment ideas. Elite investors gain a competitive edge thanks to AI. (CNN)

3. Fake Airbnb ratings are now created by AI.

The future of the internet is fake. So it seems. After the website This Person Does Not Exist went viral by showcasing nonexistent, AI-created people, the website This Airbnb Does Not Exist aims to do the same, but for Airbnb listings. It creates plausible-yet-slightly-incoherent apartment listings using deep learning. (Futurism)
