Good Day! This is my weekly newsletter, with a dose of insights into the future. The topic of this newsletter is the exponential times we live in, hence the title of f(x) = e^x, which is the (natural) exponential function.

Recently, I launched my new concept The Digital Speaker and you can now book me as an avatar or hologram. Also, my tech trend prediction for 2021 is out, read it here!

Why Datafication is Key for the Organisation of Tomorrow

My latest article:

Transforming your organisation into a data organisation requires data above all. To achieve that, the first step is to datafy your organisation. Datafication is the process of making a business data-driven, by transforming social action into quantified data. It involves collecting (new) data from various sources and processes using IoT devices or creating detailed customer profiles. Datafying your organisation starts by making your office, your workplace, your processes and your products smart. This will make previously ‘invisible’ processes traceable so that they can be monitored, analysed and optimised.

Three Useful Nuggets of Information

My weekly tips from around the web to get you thinking.

1. Could big data lead to moral blunders?

When you are doing business from a distance, reviewing entries in a spreadsheet or numbers in a presentation, it is remarkably easy to overlook massive moral transgressions. When you crunch your data and offer advice based on that, it can easily lead to moral blunders. (The Washington Post)

2. China is pushing hard on AI and big data courses.

China will open around 400 majors related to big data, artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics in universities in 2019 and another 612 new engineering projects will also be implemented. That is a massive push forward. (Global Times)

3. AI is beating the hype with stunning growth.

AI implementations grew 37% during 2018, and 270% over the last four years. It is clear that organisations are going all-in with AI and organisations seem to believe that not using AI puts companies at a competitive disadvantage. Hence, we see a stunning growth in AI implementations. (Forbes)
