The f(x) = e^x | Blockchain – Now Available!
👋 Hi, I am Mark. I am a strategic futurist and innovation keynote speaker. I advise governments and enterprises on emerging technologies such as AI or the metaverse. My subscribers receive a free weekly newsletter on cutting-edge technology.

Good Day! This is my weekly newsletter, with a dose of insights into the future. The topic of this newsletter is the exponential times we live in, hence the title of f(x) = e^x, which is the (natural) exponential function.

Recently, I launched my new concept The Digital Speaker and you can now book me as an avatar or hologram. Also, my tech trend prediction for 2021 is out, read it here!

Blockchain: Transforming Your Business and Our World – Now Available!

My latest article:

Last year, I was researching for my PhD, and I noticed that there was a lack of knowledge available on how Blockchain could be used for social good. Most of the information available related to Blockchain was either about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies or how the financial services industry could benefit from distributed ledger technology. This seemed strange to me, especially because Goldman Sachs already stated in 2015 that "Blockchain can change … well everything". That was when Dr Philippa Ryan and I set to work to fill this gap and investigate how Blockchain can be used to improve our world, and while doing that, we also discovered how it could transform your business.

Fast-forward 1,5 years and our book has now been published globally. Our publisher, Routledge, saw the importance of our work and decided to work together to get our book on the market as soon as possible. It became available last week, and already it has been recognised as #1 new release in multiple categories on Amazon. Next month, the Chinese edition will become available, and we are in talks with other publishers for additional translations. Read more about what our book is all about or order it directly on Amazon.

Three Useful Nuggets of Information

My weekly tips from around the web to get you thinking.

1. How FOMO financially ruined people.

The New York Times just published a sobering article on how many people have lost serious money since the value of cryptocurrencies fell since last year. Over $600 billion disappeared and left many people financially ruined. (NY Times)

2. Facebook starts rating people.

Fake news is a massive problem, and no one has really found a suitable solution yet. However, Facebook is now trying a novel solution by rating users on how trustworthy they are at flagging fake news. This should help the social network know how much to value user reports. (The Verge)

3. A Chinese bank issued securities on a blockchain.

Zheshang Bank, one of the largest privately held commercial banks in China, has completed an issuance of securities worth $66 million using its proprietary blockchain platform. With that, it is one of the first institutions in China to do so. (Coindesk)
