Last year, renewables hit a historic milestone: 32% of global electricity, up from 30% in 2023. Wind, solar, and hydro added 858 TWh, more than the UK and France use annually.

As AI, EVs, heat pumps, and a warmer planet drive up demand, it’s encouraging to see clean energy keeping pace. Coal dipped to 34% and gas held steady at 22%. Even amid tariff-fueled trade tension and climate-driven surges in cooling demand, the transition continues.
